Stanley Cup Champion hockey player, coach and now extremely successful CBC hockey broadcaster Craig Simpson spoke at Ivey recently about leadership lessons from winning organizations. Craig made it clear that anyone who succeeds at anything has something to teach at Ivey.
In the HBA program, students are exposed to a countless number of successful business owners, and influential entrepreneurs. The second year HBA Managing High Growth Companies class (taught by Simon Parker), hosted Dave Anyon, past CEO of Vintex and current Chairman of the Advisory Council for the Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship.
The HBA Entrepreneurship Club recently hosted a ‘Summer Business Ideas’ event. During this lunch event, representatives from the club mediated a group discussion on summer business ideas that students could potentially start this upcomming summer. Entrepreneurship Club members discussed the issues surrounding the ideas, the benefits of each as well as how to improve the ideas.
One week ago, the HBA1 class at Ivey spent a few days engaged in the Bruce R. Dodds Cross-Enterprise Challenge. This event was an opportunity for HBA students to integrate their first year learning and apply it in an entrepreneurial context.
On Wednesday, March 4th HBA students at Ivey hosted a film festival highlighting the movie-making abilities of students from the University of Western Ontario, including Brescia, King’s, and Huron.
