The Ivey School of Business offers its students a number of unique opportunities, many of which occur outside of the classroom. Ivey Connects is a student-led organization that works to inspire Ivey students to contribute to the societies in which they operate; a vital aspect of the Richard Ivey School of Business’s Mission Statement.
Near the end of second semester for the HBA Program, Ivey Connects hosted a Microfinance Day at Ivey. The “Microfinance 101” crash course was open to all HBA, MBA and PHD students as well as Ivey faculty – in all there were over 80 attendees.
Recently the Entrepreneurship Institute hosted Eventi Capital Partners (ECP) to share some stories of successful start-ups.
Stanley Cup Champion hockey player, coach and now extremely successful CBC hockey broadcaster Craig Simpson spoke at Ivey recently about leadership lessons from winning organizations. Craig made it clear that anyone who succeeds at anything has something to teach at Ivey.
The HBA Entrepreneurship Club recently hosted a ‘Summer Business Ideas’ event. During this lunch event, representatives from the club mediated a group discussion on summer business ideas that students could potentially start this upcomming summer. Entrepreneurship Club members discussed the issues surrounding the ideas, the benefits of each as well as how to improve the ideas.
